I dare you to watch this video and not feel your heart being tugged. I think it's something that needs to be watched at least once a week to keep you reminded of where you should really be:
So as I was putting my daughter to bed tonight a song popped in my head. It was triggered by something she said and I was amazed at how much of it I could actually remember. You see this is a song that I think I only heard a few times and I could not have been older than 8 or 9 at the time. I am sure I am getting some of the words wrong so if anyone was in NCSY way back then (which is where I think i heard it) and knows the right words or who sang it please let me know. I am also not sure, but it may have been a take-off of a non-Jewish song. Anyways, here it is:
Listen closely to a story
that began so long ago
Of a small but steadfast nation
overcoming every foe
Our history tells us stories
of people growing o so strong
others thought that they could beat us
but we know that they were wrong
Now's the time to rise up and proclaim
I am proud to be a jew
consider yourself part of Yiddishkeit
is the one and only thing to do
so bask in belief that hashem is one
vote for torah goals
and as the time continues
you'll find peace within your soul
As I go ahead and write this I am sure that at least one of those lines are wrong but i gotta be close.
In reference to my previous post, I have just finished watchiing the first 4 eps (and yes I know it doesn't start until tonight) and I have to still say wow but i take back the realistic comment at least a little bit.
Does anyone know where I can find an online version of a story titled "Playoffs" by Shalom Auslander that appeared in the New Yorker this week?
If you are the person who called in the domestic dispute last night at around 2 AM and mistakenly gave our address instead of yours I feel really bad about the whole you being beaten up thing and no police showing up, but man am I tired today.
All I can say so far about the new season of 24 is WOW - and it is scary how realistic this seasons plot could actually be.
