I just got an Ipod Mini as a present this week. (Thanks 'Zar and Nona!) So besides the obvious playing MP3's on it - anyone know any of the other cool things you can do with it or good resources on the web?
So last night we finish the holiday around 9 PM and rolled into action - luau was scheduled to start at 10:30 which didn't leave much time. Why in the world we volunteered to make the sheva brachot @ 10:30 after the two days is beyond me, but Vo did an incredible job of getting everything together. It was a really chilled out party and I think everyone had a good time. Much thanks to Justin for making those incredible eggrolls from scratch and all of the others who pitched in. Also thanks to Zar and Yona for actually getting married so that we can have all these fun parties! Now it's off to Lakewood - I am kinda dreading this as I have never been there for a shabbos before and it's not quite my speed from what I hear.
I was just reading this article in the Baltimore Jewish Times about how they are going to build a new police station on the corner of Slade and Milford Mill. I was thinking a better location may be the corner of Strathmore and Reisterstown - maybe that would help with the problem that just won't go away.
What is a hero? Is it someone who does something for others or can a person be a hero on his own? This whole Pat Tilmann thing – if he was only doing it for his own personal reasons does that make him a hero? Does a person who joins the army of any country automatically become a hero? What about the person who is only doing it for the money or education? If they are considered heroes, than what differentiates them from the mercenaries for hire?
in America who had no idea that Jimmy Fallon was leaving SNL? I am sad. He seems to have a lot of talent and certainly can keep you laughing (especially when he's with Horatio Sanz), but the odds are pretty well stacked against him for having any success in his post-SNL life.
What makes people sitting on an airplane think that I really care for a blow by blow description of what their job is and what it entails. I didn’t pay money to sit next to you – I paid to get to my destination. As a matter of fact, I would probably pay more money not to sit next to you.
I've posted previously about the Junior Orioles Dugout Club. Sunday was the first game and was great. It was a great game to watch (scoring every inning) and my son made it through almost 8 full innings before having enough (I had predicted he wouldn't last past 5). They had planned on opening sections 380 - 388 to the kids and their families but by the time we got there we ended up in section 368 due to the sheer number of participants!
I have a number of games that we will not be able to go to so I am making the first offer here to anyone who wants them. All you need is to bring your kid to the game, they get a free ticket, and you pay $5 for any additional tix. Here's the available games:
Saturday, May 15th vs. Anaheim Angels 7:05 p.m.
Friday, June 4th vs. Tampa Bay Devil Rays 7:35 p.m.
Saturday, October 2nd vs. Boston Red Sox 4:35 p.m.
There will probably be some additional ones as things come up and I will post them here as well. Just email me and they are yours.
I finally watched the friends finale tonight. Even if I did read or see almost everything to do with the finale in the past couple of days and knew what was going to happen (not that it would have been a surprise anyway) it was still pretty sad. On the other hand my productive time now gets to go up again - I have gone from 3.5 hours of TV that I absolutely positively had to watch every week a few years ago down to just one hour. Any guesses on what the other 2 hours that I have rid myself of were?
Now I am not a programmer and don't ever want to be a programmer, but I do know how to code and spend a decent amount of my time looking at code. I came across this about coding in your mother tongue and found it kinda amusing.
Looks like life after The Apprentice is pretty good!
Now I still haven't watched the episode of Friends from last night that my wife so gracefully taped for me (oh, do I want Tivo!), but I did get to watch Leno. I have two things to say -
1. The guys are much funnier than the girls.
2. The Black Eyed Peas was the best part of the show.
As I fly over the east coast the lights bother me. I think I need to move to a really rural area where I can see the stars clearly at night. Preferably one with high speed access.
Today we bought a Junior Orioles Dugout Club kit from Staples. It's a pretty good deal as it includes 10 tickets for games with additional tickets available for $5. I am actually impressed that with all of the commercialization of professional sports, programs such as this one still exist. I guess they figure if they don't gew the kids hooked at an early age they won't be willing to shell over $20 or more to go to a game when they grow up.
