Had a great time tonight at the Brewer's Art tonight - I'll actually write something on it tomorrow but for now I am going to sleep. G'nite y'all!
According to the Hollywood Reporter Jack Black has been cast in Peter Jackson's next epic - King Kong. I just don't see the match - Jack is one of the greatest comedic actors working nowadays, and School of Rock definitely showed he can take the lead role and run with it to make the studios some $$$ - but it feels like they are using his sudden stardom and throwing him into a role that just isn't for him.
I do like the idea of Naomi Watts though. She has that certain innocence about her that I think will do the role justice.
Either way - it's going to be a Peter Jackson film and I am sure it'll be great!
If anyone wants to buy me a present, here's a great one! The whole website has some great ideas for geeks.
Just kidding - I am a total fan of Lord of the Rings and think Peter Jackson is a genius. But this was still pretty amusing nonetheless.
I know it's a week late and Pennystock beat me to it.... but I finally found the video footage of the Vet implosion.
This is a great site for finding RSS feeds. They have a great categories section which makes it easy to find something even if you aren't really looking for it!
If those words get you singing tunes from your childhood then you will want to click here to see just how much you remember! (I only made the bonus round twice).
In all of the articles in this mornings news about the Yassin assasination there is one thing that has been bothering me. Half of the articles, including this one, put out by Reuters include this line - The United States classifies Hamas as a "terrorist" group. Notice the use of quotes. I don't get it - why lead people to believe that maybe they aren't really a terrorist organization? You don't see quotes being used when discussing Al Queda or the Spanish groups. If the US State Department has found the organizations acts so vile as to brand them as terrorists, why does Reuters feel it neccesary to question that classification?
For those of you growing up in Baltimore in the 80's, those words can only conjur up one memory - the B104 morning show. So I am watching SNL last night and see an ad for the new WQSR afternoon show where they are bringing Brian and O'Brien back on the air. This now raises the very scary question - what does it say about you when your favorite childhood DJ's are brought back on the air on the Oldies station???
This irks me to no end. Rabbi Wohlberg at Beth Tfiloh has had two great sermons so far about the movie. You can read the first or the second by clicking on the links.
Here is a new twist on those anti-drug commercials from the late '80's
Ever have a zipcode and wonder where it's actually located? Well here is your chance to find it!
I was catching up on my magazine reading this weekend and came across a very well written article. The author offers some very basic and sound arguments against the way that the RIAA has been handling the entire downloading of music controversy. While I agree with the arguments, and it actually gets me quite agitated every time the RIAA does another stupid thing like suing 12 year olds, I must argue one point.
At the end of her article the author says "After all, I'm not a criminal. I'm a fan and perhaps, if handled with care, an unpaid marketer." Unfortunately her status as a criminal is not up for her or any other fan to determine but rather for the courts. Justifying an illegal action just because some good (even if that good is to the benefit of the victim) will come out of it does not make the action right. To put it in drastic terms, a woman who is impregnated as a victim of rape may end up with a wonderful child who she loves dearly and may be the light of her life, but that does not mean that the rapist is not a criminal.
Is the RIAA acting foolishly and turning off millions of potential buyers? I would say yes. Are they making themselves the object of ridicule in this nation? Again I would say yes. Do they have a right to bring those who they feel are wronging them in front of the Justice system of our country? Just as much as any other person does. We live in a society where there are laws and rules to abide by and we have instituted a courts system to make sure those rules are upheld. Let’s just hope that system is able to come up with a solution that is good for the RIAA, the artists, as well as the fans.
About a month ago, good friend Pennystock predicted Bill to win it all on The Apprentice, and at the time I expressed my doubts. Tonight just added to my doubts of his leadership abilities. While he did lead Versacorp to victory, I do not think he showed any stregnth as a leader. In the boardroom he showed way too much doubt and just did not seem to have the kind of backbone that I think Trump is looking for. If you ask me, I think Nick has a much better shot of taking it all.
Ever get the feeling when you are sitting in traffic that you just want to be somewhere else and your mind starts thinking about all the places you'd rather be driving? Well here's your chance!
Don't know how long this has been around, but I just discovered that if you use My Yahoo you can go to the Choose Content page and add their Beta RSS Reader. They only allow you to add up to 25 sites on a page, and there isn't much you can do with it in regards to aggregating all of the headlines, but for a quick convenient on the road solution it works great!
This is cute! Post who you are in the comments (Surprise, surprise - I was Chandler)
Last night I thoroughly enjoyed the Oscars. It just seemed like no one was taking themselves too seriously and most realized that they were all in the entertainment business and not political commentators. Billy Crystal was probably to thank for that. It is amazing to see how much that man can get away with that anyone else would have the nation screaming about political correctness or indecency or some other such nonesense. I also love the way that Peter Jackson looks like he just rolled out of bed and got in a fight in a wind tunnel on his way over to the awards. An obviously brilliant man - he finally got what he deserved!
