Israel questions

We are going to be headed to Israel for 3 weeks (3/26 - 4/16) and I've got a bunch of questions that I've been trying to get answered. This is our first trip in 8 years and the first one with kids so it is going to be a totally different experience than what I am used to.

1. For that amount of time and with 4 people is it worth it to rent a car or just take cabs everywhere?

2. Is driving in Israel still as scary as it was 10 years ago?

3. Does anyone know of someone who may be coming to America during that time period and may want to let us use their house / apartment? Doesn't neccesarily need to be in Jerusalem and I am not sure how much time we will actually spend there, we just need a "home base" where we can leave most of our stuff as we go galavanting around.

4. I am beginning to compile a list of things to do that the kids will enjoy - any ideas?

5. Where do you sign up for the tunnel tours? (They were not open last time we were there)

I am sure there will be more, but this is a start. I plan on tracking the trip (as well as all planning) on here so I have something to go back to.

Call my mother in law, they have an apt. in Ramat Beit Shemesh that may be available, and we have a cousin who runs the tunnel tours. She will also have plenty of other activity ideas, as she goes regularly and often with kids.

1. Plan out your itinerary, then rent a car for the days that you'll need one.
2. Driving in Israel isn't so bad -- just stay alert and be somewhat aggressive.
3. You can always leave your stuff at our house. We're pretty centrally located.
4 + 5. There's tons of stuff to do here over Pesach. We'll talk more in detail this week -- can't wait to see you guys!
