I am one of those crazy ones who think that staying up and cheering on the President will somehow alter the results in far away places. So yes, I was awake until a crazy hour flipping through channels jumping from ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX. How could I go to sleep when Bush needed me in order to finish the victory in Ohio and Iowa? New Mexico was counting on me to be there for them. So I am responsible for this mess that we are in this morning. When I fell asleep, FOX and NBC had already given Ohio to Bush and were about ready to give Iowa as well. The other networks hadn't made their projections yet but you could see they were itching to.
So how could I disappoint our country and President by actually falling asleep on the job? It comes down to laziness - you see I ran into a little problem at about 2:50 AM. I was lying comfortably in bed flipping back and forth and suddenly the remote stopped working. If it would have been on NBC then it all would have been good. But unfortunately it stopped on CBS which was the one Network that I had already decided that I really did not like their coverage - it was pretty dry and boring actually. (I know many of you think the whole thing was dry and boring but I was actually enjoying it and after all was doing my duty of insuring everything fell into place). So after being stuck on CBS for about 5 minutes of torture I had to turn off the TV (for some reason the power button on the remote was working fine, just the channel switchers weren't).
So I apologize to the country for letting everyone down - I am responsible for us not having a clear cut winner this morning (although we all know who that winner is). I promise to get right back into the cheering right now, now that I am awake again and this whole mess should be over soon.

Posted by: Greg at November 3, 2004 08:46 AMI thought the coverage was exciting until about midnight, and then it became funny because the anchors were getting noticibly tired and started screwing up. It was an action comedy!
